The native range of this species is Tropical & Subtropical Asia to NW. Pacific. It is a shrub and grows primarily in the subtropical biome. It is used as animal food and a medicine, has environmental uses and social uses and for food.

Uses: 

The whole plant treats rheumatism, bone pain, cough, enteritis.

Distribution:

Lai Chau (along the Da River, Phong Tho), Son La, Hoa Binh to Kien Giang. The plant grows naturally along rivers and streams, at an altitude of up to 500 m, on sandy, clay, and limestone soil.

Flowering and fruiting season: 

October-November; December-March
