The native range of this species is SE. Colombia to NW. Bolivia and N. Brazil. It is a shrub and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome. It is used as a medicine and has environmental uses.

Vietnamese name:

Xăng sê; Lá ngũ sắc; Khôi đốm.

Distribution:

Found in Assam, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Comoros, Cook Is., Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Fiji, Guinea, Haiti, Hawaii, Jamaica, Leeward Is., Puerto Rico, Solomon Is., Trinidad-Tobago, Venezuela Antilles, Vietnam.

Uses:

Leaves treat hepatitis, bloating, indigestion, stomach pain.
