The native range of this species is China to JApan (S. Kyushu) and W. & Central Malesia. It is a climber and grows primarily in the seasonally dry tropical biome.

Treat rheumatism, bone pain, poisonous snake bites, red and painful eyes, difficulty urinating (vine stem).

Lao Cai (Sa Pa, Mong Xen), Lang Son (Dong Dang, Van Linh, Cai Kinh), Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa.

Flowering and fruiting season: 

February - May.
