The native range of this species is Tropical & Subtropical Old World. It is a perennial and grows primarily in the seasonally dry tropical biome. It is used as a medicine and for food.

Uses: 

Treating colds, constipation, urinary retention, hematuria, bleeding wounds, hemorrhage, hemoptysis, inflammation, indigestion, bloating (whole plant); liver, gallbladder, nervous system diseases (seeds); rash, blisters, swelling (leaves).

Distribution: 

Northern Delta provinces, Central and Southern regions.

Flowering and fruiting season: 

Flowers September - November, fruiting season: April - May.
