The native range of this species is E. India, Himalaya to S. China and New Guinea (Misool Island). It is an annual and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Uses: 

Treat fever in children, treat eye pain, toothache, rheumatic pain (Roots contain essential oils containing methyl salicylate used for massage).

Distribution: 

Lao Cai, Quang Ninh, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Kon Tum, Gia Lai. The plant grows in small clumps in fallow fields, swidden fields in moist soil.

Flowering and fruiting season: 

July-November
