The native range of this species is China (Yunnan, Guangdong) to Tropical Asia. It is a tree and grows primarily in the seasonally dry tropical biome.

Wood is white or grayish brown, soft, slightly coarse grain. Can be used to make furniture of low value. The tree has edible fruit.
