The native range of this species is Vietnam. It is a rhizomatous geophyte and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Use

In Vietnam, the flowers are now used to make soup. The tuber can be processed into crystalline sulfur powder to treat dysentery, or used as a cooling drink or as a first aid when suffering from typhoid or fever. When eaten raw, the tuber has a sweet, slightly viscous taste and is very cool to eat
