The native range of this species is S. China to Vietnam. It is a tree and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Hanoi (Ba Vi), Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Binh. The tree grows naturally in evergreen forests.
