The native range of this species is W. India, Sri Lanka, Assam to S. China and Indo-China. It is a shrub or tree and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Uses: 

Roots have cooling and anti-fatigue effects; Dried roots, soaked in wine and drunk, have the effect of nourishing the body and preventing fatigue.

Distribution: 

Vinh Phuc (Tam Dao), Hanoi (Ba Vi), Thua Thien Hue. The tree grows under the canopy of evergreen forests.

Flower and fruit season: 

February-May; May-October
