The native range of this species is W. India, Sri Lanka, Assam to S. China and Indo-China. It is a shrub or tree and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Vinh Phuc (Tam Dao), Hanoi (Ba Vi), Thua Thien Hue. The tree grows under the canopy of evergreen forests.
