The native range of this species is S. China to N. Indo-China. It is a subshrub and grows primarily in the subtropical biome.

Uses:
Coughing up blood, dysentery, large intestine bleeding, hemorrhage (decoction of the whole plant). Also cures rheumatism, hepatitis, jaundice, clears heat, orange stains in children, irregular menstruation, malaria, bone pain, and lung diseases.
Distribution:
Ha Giang, Quang Nam, Da Nang. The tree grows naturally in rocky mountains, in evergreen broad-leaved forests, in dark, moist places, at altitudes of 400-1600 m. This species has been included in the Vietnam Red Book.
Flower and fruit season:
May - July; August-December
