The native range of this species is Central Himalaya to S. China and N. Indo-China. It is an epiphyte or lithophyte and grows primarily in the subtropical biome.

Uses: 

Flu, dysentery, cholera, abnormal digestion.

Distribution: 

In China, the plant is used to treat influenza and B. Lao Cai encephalitis (Sa Pa). The tree grows naturally in moist forests, at altitudes above 1000m.
