The native range of this species is S. China to Tropical Asia. It is a rhizomatous geophyte and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Vietnamese names: 

Song bào, Trúc diệp sâm, Tóc tiên rừng

Latin name: 

Disporum cantoniense (Lour.) Merr. – Frillaria cantoniensen Lour.

Family: 

Convallariaceae

Uses: 

Tonic, pain relief, high fever, rheumatism and paralysis; menstrual cramps, heavy menstruation; Falling injury (Rhizome).

Distribution: 

Lao Cai, Ha Giang. The tree grows naturally in closed, humid forests at altitudes of 500 - 1000m.
