The native range of this species is Assam to Peninsula Malaysia. It is a climbing shrub and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Gia Lai. The tree grows naturally on forest edges, hills, and bushes.
