The native range of this species is Hainan, Indo-China to Peninsula Malaysia. It is a climbing perennial or shrub and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Blood tonic, cures blood deficiency, irregular menstruation, cures leucorrhea, spermatorrhea and strengthens tendons and bones, cures spermatorrhea (Body soaked in wine and decocted to drink).
Distribution:
Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Vinh Phuc, Thai Nguyen. The tree grows naturally in forests, along rivers and streams on sandy soil.
