The native range of this species is Indian Subcontinent to S. China and Indo-China. It is a subshrub and grows primarily in the temperate biome. It is has environmental uses and as a medicine.

Uses: 

Dysentery, enteritis, diarrhea, hematuria (whole plant).

Distribution: 

Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Ninh Binh, Kon Tum, Hai Phong. The plant grows naturally on mossy cliffs, moist mountain walls, rock crevices, and stream banks, at an altitude of 500-1,600 m.

Flower and fruit season:

June - August; August-October
