The native range of this species is Tropical & Subtropical Asia to W. Pacific. It is a liana and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Vietnamese name: 

Ngũ trảo, Mẫu kinh, Ô liên mẫu

Scientific name: 

Cayratia japonica (Thunb.) Gagnep. – Vitis japonica Thunb.

Family: 

Vitaceae

Uses: 

Sprained tendons and wounds (Pumped leaves applied). Rheumatism (Decoction of roots). Blood in urine (Fresh leaves crushed with ginger and wine to drink). Also cures gout (Leaf, dried vine, decoction and drink daily)

Distribution: 

The tree grows naturally, popular throughout Vietnam.

Flower and fruit season: June - July; 

August-November
