The native range of this species is Central & SE. China to Indo-China, S. Korea, Central & S. Japan to Taiwan. It is a shrub or tree and grows primarily in the temperate biome.

Uses:
Treat dysentery (Roots). Colds, coughs, sore throats, swollen tonsils, stomach ulcers, acute enteritis, rheumatism, hematoma injuries (decorated leaves are drunk and fresh pounded to cover externally).
Distribution:
Cao Bang, Lang Son, Lam Dong. The tree grows naturally, scattered in the forest, at an altitude of 600-1500 m.
