The native range of this species is Indo-China. It is a rhizomatous geophyte and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Uses: 

Rhizomes (tubes) are used as medicine to treat irregular menstruation, abdominal pain during menstruation.

Distribution: 

The tree grows naturally under the canopy of other trees, sometimes also grown in Central and Southern Vietnam.
