The native range of this species is China (Yunnan) to Vietnam, Hainan. It is a shrub or tree and grows primarily in the subtropical biome.

Son La (Moc Chau, Xuan Nha), Bac Giang, Quang Tri, Da Nang (Ba Na), Dak Lak (Buon Ma Thuot), Lam Dong (Da Lat), Tay Ninh, Dong Nai (Bien Hoa, Bao Chanh), Ba Ria-Vung Tau (Con Dao), Kien Giang (Phu Quoc).


Flowering and fruiting season: March - April.
