The native range of this species is Himalaya to S. China and Peninsula Malaysia. It is a climbing shrub and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Uses: 

Cure cough (body).

Distribution: 

Lai Chau (Phong Tho), Lao Cai (Sa Pa), Cao Bang (Chong Khanh), Nghe An, Ninh Binh. The tree grows naturally along forests, in evergreen forests or in mixed deciduous forests, along streams, at altitudes up to 1800 m.

Flowering and fruiting season: 

May-July; August-November
