The native range of this species is Assam to W. & Central Malesia. It is a shrub or tree and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Used to eat betel nut, make medicine like Areca catechu L. (fruit)

Distribution: 

Kon Tum (Dak Glei, Dak Long), Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa (Nha Trang), Binh Thi (Phan Thiet, Polnglu mountain), Dong Nai (Bien Hoa), Ba Ria-Vung Tau (Dinh Mountain), Kien Giang (Phu Quoc), Bac Lieu (Gia Rai).

Flowering and fruiting season: 

March - August.
