The native range of this species is SW. India, Nepal to Central China and N. Indo-China. It is a perennial and grows primarily in the temperate biome.

Uses: 

Medicine for car, diarrhea, cough, amoebic dysentery, stomatitis (whole plant). Wounds, rheumatism, back pain, bloody urine. Blood tonic (fruit). Regulate meridians, leukoplakia (roots).

Distribution: 

Lao Cai (Sa Pa), Lai Chau. The tree grows naturally along the roadside at an altitude of 1600 - 1800m.

Flowering and fruiting season: 

April – May; June - August.
