The native range of this species is Japan (S. Kyushu), S. China to Vietnam. It is a shrub or tree and grows primarily in the wet tropical biome.

Uses: 

Treat colds, high fevers, respiratory infections (Roots). Dysentery, acute enteritis, gastritis (Flowers and fruits). Leaves cure boils.

Distribution: 

Lao Cai (Sa Pa), Ninh Binh, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien Hue. The tree grows naturally in the valley along the stream.
