its native range is Nepal to China (S. Yunnan, Guizhou, S. Guangxi) to Indo-China.

Vietnamese name:

Đu đủ rừng, Thông thảo gai, thích thông thảo, thầu dầu núi.

Uses: 

The core of the stem is used to drink milk, women after giving birth. Treatment of edema, urinary incontinence, low numbness. Also as antipyretic. Leaves are boiled in water to cure polio or pound broken bones.

Ecology: 

The tree grows naturally in rivers, streams, valleys and restored forests.
