(Platanthera praeclara) is an orchid of summer in the prairies west of the Mississippi. It is a more robust species than its eastern cousin. this view showing detail inside the lip and enabling a closeup view of the pollinia, their posture, the opening into the spur and how they fit within the hood like structure underneath the sepals. The delicate yellow green wash of color comes out well in this image.
