These plants grow on sandstones, and their roots are protected by mosses, lichens and other low vegetation"

English Name:

Brieger's Laelia (German-Brazilian Orchid Collector 1900's).

Description: 

With small, cylindrical pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, stiff, coriaceous, ovate-lanceolate, acute leaf and blooms in the later spring on a terminal, erect, 20 to 25 cm long, single flowered inflorescence that is much longer than the leaf.

Distribution:

Brazil Southeast.

Ecological:

At elevations around 1370 m as a miniature to small sized, cool growing, rupicolus Laelia growing directly on rocks in small cracks and crevasses.

Flowering times:

Blooms in the later spring.

Flower size:

5.0 cm.

Cultivation:

Cattleyas usually tolerate intermediate to warm conditions and can be grown in medium size fir bark. Plant prefers drying periods between watering and bright light is recommended. Lengthen drying period a bit in the winter.
