English Name:

The Broad Sepal Trichoglottis.

Description: 

With a pendulous, elongate stem enveloped by imbricate leaf sheaths and carrying leathery, distinctly purple in bright light leaves that blooms in the fall, winter and spring on a short, 2 to 6 flowered infloresence arising opposite the leaves and holding the flowers close to the stem.

Distribution:

Philippines.

Ecological:

Found in the Philippines coastal forests at elevations up to 1000 m as a giant sized, hot to warm growing, monopodial epiphyte.

Blooms in the fall, winter and spring.

Flower size:

10.0 mm.

Cultivation:

Temperature: 

Warm to intermediate.

Light: 

Filtered diffuse light, no direct sun.

Water-Humidity: 

Maintain even moisture and high humidity. Constant air movement is also important.

Fertilizer: 

Half-strength balanced fertilizer during the growing cycle, once a week. Once every two weeks in the cooler months.

Potting: 

Medium grade bark or aggregate mix in a terra cotta or plastic pot for the upright growers. The pendulous growing species should be grown on mounts of cork of tree fern fiber.
