Description:
With a pendulous, freely branching stem carrying terete, acute leaves often flushed with violet that blooms in the early summer on several at a time, axillary but towards the apex, racemose, to 10 cm long, densly many flowered inflorescence with triangular, acute floral bracts and flowers that open in succession but do not open widely.
Distribution:
Borneo, Jawa, Lesser Sunda Is., Malaya, Sumatera.
Ecological:
A pendant, monopodial, small to large sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte that is found in Java, Borneo and Sumatra in lower montane forests at elevations around 750 to 1800 m.
Flowering times:
Blooms in the early summer.
Flower size:
1.2 cm.
Cultivation:
Plants are best grown hanged in baskets and on mounted with sphagnum moss and usually require full sunlight and intermediate to warm temperatures. Water plant regularly.
