The Ornate Pleurothallis.

Description: 

With erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 basal sheaths and carrying a single apical, erect, coriaceous leaf that blooms on a apical, single successive flowered, 4 to 5 cm long, fractiflex inflorescence that holds the successive opening, single flowers amid or just above the leaves occuring in the winter through mid summer. Cool temperatures, shade, and high humidity as well as mounting on tree fern, and good air movement assure a happy plant.

Distribution:

Ecuador, Venezuela. 

Ecological:

As a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte at elevations of 1500 to 2500 m.

Flowering times:

Blooms in the winter through mid summer.

Flower size:

1.3 cm.

Cultivation:

Light:  

Bright to Shade; 2000-3000 Footcandles (bright indirect light,strong shadowing).

Temperature:

Cool,Intermediate to Warm; 40°F min. to 95°F max.(tolerant of extremes,favoring cool).

Watering:

Moist; 3-5 waterings per week (let dry lightly between waterings).
