Eria profusa Lindl.

English Name:

The Profuse Eria (refers to the quantity of flowers).

Description: 

With clustered oval pseudobulbs enveloped basally by papery, dry sheaths and carrying 2 to 4, lanceolate leaves that blooms in the late winter and early spring on an arching, to 37.5 cm long, many (70) flowered, brown pubescent, light green inflorescence.

Distribution:

Philippines.

Ecological:

At elevations of 100 to 1000 m as a medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte.

Flowering times:

Blooms in the late winter and early spring.

Flower size:

1.0 cm.

Cultivation:

Plants are warm to intermediate growing and require moderate lighting. Potting media should not be allowed to dry out. Keep moist but not soggy. Water about every five to seven days. Plants should be potted in a well drain mix with medium fir bark with some perlite or in tree fern fibers. On mature plants, with hold watering for one month during the winter.

Typus:

Culture varies from species to species because of the wide distribution of this genus. Most species generally can be potted in fir bark with perlite and require dry outs between waterings.
