Pecteilis radiata

"Pecteilis radiata (Thunb.) Raf. found in China, Japan, Korea and Russia. Its natural habitat is the mountain areas, very humid and exposed to the sun, where it grows at an altitude of about 1500 m. It is now very rare in nature, and is rarely found even in cultivation"

its native range is S. Russian Far East to S. Korea, Central & S. Japan, China (W. Henan).

Sagi-so (Heron grass). - The Egret Flower.

Chinese  name:

Xia Ye Bai Die Lan - 狭叶白蝶兰.

Description: 

With small, ovoid or ellipsoid tubers with an erect, slender terete stem carrying 3 to 7, linear-lanceolate, acuminate, suberect leaves with basal leaf sheaths and blooms in the summer on a terminal inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts and carrying 1 to 3 showy flowers.

Distribution:

China Southeast, Japan, Korea, Primorye.

Ecological:

In forest glades at elevations around 1500 meters as a small to medium sized, erect, cold growing terrestrial.

Flowering times:

Blooms in the summer

Flower size:

3.0 cm.

Cultivation:

Will not tolerate dry heat above 30 degrees Celsius.

In growth, will not tolerate even a day's worth of dryness.

In winter, must be dry, or bulbs will rot.

After blooming, plant will turn yellow and die back/off. This is natural as the plant must rest.
