its native range is S. Venezuela to Ecuador and Bolivia.

English Name:

The Lake Side Galeandra.

Description: 

With fusiform, slighly compressed pseudobulbs enveloped below by imbricate, leafless sheaths and medianly becoming leafbearing and carrying distichous, linear to linear-lanceolate, acuminate leaves that are articulated to the leaf sheaths below that blooms in the spring on a terminal, racemose, 1 to 6 flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb and is enveloped below by acuminate bracts.

Distribution:

Bolivia, Brazil North, Brazil West-Central, Ecuador, Venezuela.

Ecological:

At elevations of 150 to 265 m as a medium sized, hot growing epiphyte.

Flowering times:

Blooms in the spring.

Flower size:

5.0 cm.

Cultivation:

Plants grow in warm conditions with moderate lighting. Pot in fine bark or sphagnum moss. Water regularly during the summer, about once every two days and gradually reduce as winter approaches winter. Plants can be infrequently in the winter to keep the pseudobulbs from shriveling, but with hold watering until new shoots appear.
