Aerides rosea

"Aerides rosea Lodd. ex Paxton orchid is a medium to large sized, hot to cool growing, monopodial epiphyte or lithophyte with clumping pendulous stems carrying several ligulate leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a racemose or rarely branched, 2' (60 cm) long, densly many (20 to 25) flowered inflorescence with fragrant, waxy flowers occuring in the spring and summer."

its native range is E. Himalaya to S. China and Indo-China.

The Rose Colored Aerides.

Description: 

with clumping pendulous stems carrying several ligulate leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a racemose or rarely branched, 60 cm long, densly many (20 to 25) flowered inflorescence with fragrant lily of the valley scented, waxy flowers occuring in the spring and summer.

Distribution:

Assam, Cambodia, China South-Central, China Southeast, East Himalaya, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam (Nam Cát Tiên, Lâm Đồng). 

Ecological:

It is a medium to large sized, hot to cool growing, monopodial epiphyte or lithophyte.

Flowering times:

Blooms in the spring and summer.

Flower size:

2.5 cm.

Cultivation:

Plants are best grown hung in baskets or mounted and require bright to full sunlight and warm temperatures. If hung the roots must be watered frequently. Plants should be grown in media that is well drained such as tree fern fibers (for small plants), several pieces of coarse fir bark, or sphagnum moss. Plants are best mounted.
