"Acanthophippium mantinianum L.Linden & Cogn. or Mantin's acanthophippium, is a species of the family Orchidaceae. It is currently the only endemic Acanthophippium species known in the Philippines and one of the two species alongside with Acanthophippium pictum. It was named in honor of M. Georges Mantin, an orchid horticulturalist and hybridizer from Olivet, France. It is an erect and sympodial species with 15 cm long tapering pseudobulbs and large, thin leaves, which can be up to 60 cm long and 15 cm wide. The plant is endemic to the islands of Luzon, Leyte, Mindoro, Negros and Panay in the Philippines where it is found at elevations from 500 to 1500 m"

Description:
With dark purple to dark green, transluscent, ovoid tapering towards the apex pseudobulbs carrying 3, plicate, fleshy, elliptic to oblong-lanceolate, deciduous, tapering to a stalk leaves and blooms in the summer on a to 25 cm long, lateral raceme arising with a new growth and carrying up to 5, fleshy, highly fragrant flowers.

Terrestrial species that is found from 500 to 1500 m in shaded, mountainous regions.

Blooms in the summer.

5.0 cm.
Cultivation:
Plants should be grown in shade with intermediate temperatures. Grow in a well drained terrestrial mix with medium bark and perlite. Plants do not like to be repotted often. Keep plant media moist and water regularly during growth season. During winter reduce watering.
