The Curculigo-Like Tropida [A liliaceae].

Chinese name:

Duan Sui Zhu Jing Lan - 短穗竹茎兰.

Description: 

With an often branched, thin, woody stem and basally clasping, thin but tough, plicate, narrowly lanceolate, pointed leaves that are held in a spiral around the stem and blooms in the late spring and early summer on an axillary or terminal, often on more than one per internode, 1.5 cm long, corymb-like, several to many flowered inflorescence.

Distribution:

Andaman Is., Assam, Bangladesh, Borneo, Cambodia, China South-Central, China Southeast, East Himalaya, Hainan, India, Jawa, Laos, Lesser Sunda Is., Malaya, Myanmar, Sulawesi, Sumatera, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam (from Nghia Lo, Ninh Binh, to Quang Ninh, Hai Phong to Dong Nai, Con Dao).

Ecological:

At elevations of [sea level] 600 to 1300 m in broadleaf evergreen lowland forests in humid shady locations with rocky substrates as a large sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial orchid.

Flowering times:

Blooms in the late spring and early summer.

Flower size:

1.0 cm.

Cultivation:

Intermediate growing terrestrial, requires shaded position.

Parts Used: 

Root - Radix Tropiliae Curculigoidis.

Uses: 

Roots are used according to folk experience to treat impotence and colds (Institute of Medicinal Plants).
