"Tolumnia x pulchella (Hook.) Raf. is native to Jamaica. These plants occurs in Brown's Town and surrounding area, in Manchester in the Cockpit Country and in the hills near Mandeville. They grow there on small trees in moderately moist forests, at heights of 300-800 m"

English Name:

The Beautiful Tolumnia.

Description: 

With very short, erect stems enveloped by imbricate, disitichous, fleshy to coriaceous, bilaterally flattened, channeled on the upper side, lanceolate, falcate, acute leaves that has a wiry, erect to arcuate, to 50 cm long, paniculate, terete inflorescence that has lanceolate, acuminate bracts with many (20), showy flowers occuring in the spring and summer. 

Distribution:

Jamaica, Cuba.

Ecological:

On small trees in humid forests in bright light and high air movement at elevations of 300 to 1000 meters as a miniature, fan shaped, warm to cool growing epiphyte.

Flowering times:

Blooms in the spring.

Flower size:

3.0 cm.

Cultivation:

Grow plants in intermediate to warm temperatures in partial shade to bright light. Water plant when mix drys. During the winter give plants a slight dryout between waterings. Water approximately once a week. Pot plants in a well drain medium of medium fir bark and perlite.
