"Restrepia brachypus Rchb.f. is native to Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. In Colombia, these plants meet in many locations both on the eastern and western side of the Cordilleras, usually at an altitude of 1500-2500 m."

Description: 

With erect ramicauls enveloped completely by several inflated sheaths and carrying a single, apical, broadly elliptical leaf that blooms on a terminal, erect, threadlike, to 12 cm long, single flowered inflorescence that has sheathed bracts on the ramicaul, occuring in the winter and spring.

Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela.

Ecological:

In wet montane forests as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte at elevations of 1180 to 3200 m.
