Description:
With 3 to 5, narrowly elliptic, oblong-elliptic or obovate, mottled dark green with pale green, acute and equally 2 or 3 lobed apically leaves blooming in the spring and early summer on a single flowered (occasionally 2), purple pubescent, erect, to 20 to 40 cm long, terminal inflorescence with ovate to elliptic, acute to subacute floral bracts that are 1/3 the length of the ovaries and carrying 1 to rarely 2, showy flowers.
Distribution:
Cambodia, Laos, Malaya, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam (Chu Pao, Gia Lai, Đà Nẵng, Lâm Đồng, Phú Quốc).
Ecological:
In primary, closed, evergreen seasonal, broadleafed lowland forests, mixed and coniferous woods and primary highland cloud forests in soils rich in silicates or on granite and sandstone at altitudes of 300 to 2000 m as a medium sized, hot to cool growing, terrestrial or lithophytic orchid.
Flowering times:
Blooms in the spring and early summer.
Flower size:
10.0 cm.
Cultivation:
Plant should be grown in areas with moderately bright light and intermediate temperatures. Pot in a well drain mix such as medium fir bark and perlite. Water regularly about every four to five days. To induce blooming reduce watering in the spring and winter.
