its native range is SW. Colombia to N. Peru and Venezuela.

English Name:

The Dark Spotted Gongora.

Description: 

With ovoid-pyriform, slender, sulcate pseudobulbs carrying 2, narrowly lanceolate, attenuate, acuminate, plicate, bright green, channeled below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on a pendent, tinted purple, slender, racemose, 50 to 65cm long, densely 25 to 30 flowered inflorescence.

Distribution:

Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela.

Ecological:

In wet montane forests at elevations of 700 to 900 m as a large sized, warm growing epiphyte.

Flowering times:

Blooms in the spring.

Flower size:

4.5 cm.

Cultivation:

Plants are usually grown in wooden baskets in partial shade. Use a well drain potting media such as medium fir bark with perlite, tree fern fibers, or sphagnum moss. Keep area humid and grow in intermediate temperatures. Keep mix moist but not dry.
