Description:
With simple stems that are enveloped by rugose leaf-sheaths and carrying 3 to several, chartaceous, plicate, elliptic-ovate, acuminate leaves that blooms in the fall on a terminal, 4 to 12 cm long, densely many flowered, racemose inflorescence.
Distribution:
Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico Southeast, Nicaragua, Panamá.
Ecological:
In wet montane forests at elevations of 650 to 2000 m as a medium to large sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial on steep grassy embankments or sometime epiphyte.
Flowering times:
Blooms in the fall.
Flower size:
5.0 mm.
Cultivation:
Grow in partial to full sun usually in intermediate to warm temperatures. Plants can be grown in sandy soil or bark with perlite. Keep the mix moist but not wet. Never let the mix dry out for long periods.
