"Dendrobium hercoglossum Rchb.f. is native to Sumatra, Malaya, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, China and the Philippines. In China, these plants are found in Kwangtung, Hainan and Hong Kong at an altitude of 600-1260 m."

Description: 

With slender, subclavate, clustered stems that are almost totally enveloped by leaf sheaths and carrying distichous, linear-lanceolate, obtusely and unequally bilobed apically leaves that flowers in spring though winter on a short to 1 1/2", axillary, 2 to 8 flowered raceme that arises from the nodes at or near the apex of the leafless or leafy stems with waxy, flat, showy, slightly fragrant flowers.

Distribution:

Cambodia, China South-Central, China Southeast, Hainan, Laos, Malaya, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam (Bình Trị Thiên, Lâm Đồng).

Ecological:

In broadleaf, evergreen, lowland forests and primary montane forests at elevations of 50 to 1200 m on trees along streams as a large sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte.

Plant grows in cool to warm temperatures with medium amounts of light. Keep plant moist and fertilize during growth season. During winter reduce watering until new shoots appear. Grow in a well drained mix of sphagnum moss or medium fir bark.

Uses: 

Treat kidney damage, back pain, knee pain, poor blood circulation.
