Description:
With dark greenish, brown stems enveloped by silver gray sheaths and carrying many terete leaves, held close to the stem and towards the apex the leaves are so clustered that the stem appears to be tasseled. This orchid blooms in the fall on a 4 to 5 cm long, single flowered inflorescence arising from the apical nodes of mature stems and holding the fragrant (talcum powder) flowers close to the leaf ends.
Distribution:
China South-Central, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam (Lâm Đồng, Đồng Nai).
Ecological:
In montane forests at elevations of 300 to 1700 m as a medium sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte.
Flowering times:
Blooms in the summer.
Flower size:
2.5 mm.
Cultivation:
Plant requires cool to warm temperatures and medium amounts of light. Keep plant moist and fertilize during growth season. During winter keep plant dry and withhold water until new shoots appear. Grow in a well drain mix of sphagnum moss or medium fir bark.
