Description:
With small, elongate, attenuate, clustered pseudobulbs covered with papery bracts carrying a single, apical, cylindrical, acute, fleshy, sulcate and channeled above leaves that blooms in the fall on a suberect to pendulous, densely few to many flowered, 4 to 7 cm long inflorescence carrying minute flowers.
Distribution:
Argentina Northeast, Brazil South, Brazil Southeast, Paraguay.
Ecological:
On lichen and mossy, thin, tree trunks and twigs at elevations around 500 m as a mini-miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte.
Flowering times:
Blooms in the fall.
Flower size:
1.0 cm.
Cultivation:
I have grown this species in both intermediate and cool conditions. Ideally it would do best with a cool/cold winter and an intermediate summer. Grow it in semi shade. It gets year round moisture with diltute fertilizer. During the growing season it should be watered daily assuming that it will be dry by the next day. During the winter months, water a bit less often, but don't let it stay dry for a sustained periods of time. In the habitat, it gets less rain in the winter, but don't get a true dry rest.
