The Horned Bulbophyllum.
Description:
With 1.5 to 5 cm between each, distinct, ovoid ppseudobulb enveloped in long stiff bristles and carrying a single apical, thick. elliptic to ovate, acute, petiolate base leaf and flowers in the summer in Borneo on a basal, erect to patent, 5 to 7 cm long, single flowered inflorescence with elliptic to ovate floral bracts.
Distribution:
Borneo, Jawa, Philippines, Sumatera.
Ecological:
In hill and lower montane forests at elevations of 900 to 1700 m and higher as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte.
Flowering times:
Blooms in the summer.
Flower size:
3.0 cm.
Cultivation:
Keep plant in warm temperatures. Keep moist in summer seasons and do not allow mix to dry, in winter keep the mix slight dry and reduce watering. Keep good air movement to avoid fungal growth. Keep plants in shade. Pot plants in sphagnum moss, fine bark, or mounted.
