English Name:
Two-Horned Tainia - refers to the 2 horns at the apex of the column.
Description:
With cylindrical, basally swollen psedobulbs carrying a single, apical, broadly elliptic, acuminate, thin, 3 thickened veined, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later winter on an erect, terminal, peduncle 4 bracted, 31 to 37.5 cm long, 45 to 60 cm long overall, rachis 8 to 30 cm long, 10 to 17 flowered inflorescence with patent to spreading, triangular floral bracts and carrying wide spreasing, mostly simultaneously opening flowers.
Distribution:
India, Jawa, Sri Lanka, Thailand.
Ecological:
In high evergreen forets at elevations of 900 to 1300 m as a small sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial.
Flowering times:
Blooms in the later winter.
Flower size:
3.5 cm.
Cultivation:
Plants require shade and cool to warm temperature requirements depending on the species. Plants should be potted in a mix that retain some moisture such as gravel. Medium should be kept moist during growing season. Repotting should be done after flowering.
