Description: 

It has a short, stout stem carrying elliptic-oblong, unequally, obtusely bilobed or deeply emarginate apically leaves and blooms in the late winter and spring on an axillary, 45 cm long, 5 to several flowered inflorescence that is longer than the leaves, with ovate-elliptic, acute or subacute, cucullate bracts and carrying fragrant, heavy textured, long lasting flowers.

Distribution:

Assam India, eastern Himalayas, Myanmar, Thailand, southern China and Vietnam (Bắc Cạn,  Na Hang, Quản Bạ, Hà Giang, Gia Lai, Lâm Đồng, Ninh Thuận).

Ecological:

In evergreen and semi-deciduous forests on limestone cliffs or in primary montane forests at altitudes of 100 to 1500 m as a large sized, hot to cool growing, epiphytic orchid.

Flowering times:

Blooms in the late winter and spring.

Flower size:

6.0 cm.

Uses: 

Treating fever, diarrhea (juice of the plant)

Cultivation:

Plants are best grown hanged in baskets and on mounted and require bright to full sunlight and warm temperatures. If hunged the roots must be watered frequently. Plants should be grown in media that is well drained such as tree fern fibers (for small plants), several pieces of coarse fir bark, or sphagnum moss.
