Description:
With large, underground pseudobulbs giving rise to leafy stems or as an inflorescence and carry 7 linear, acute, with the middle leaves being the largest that blooms in the spring on a basal, to 90 cm long, branching, glaucous, well spaced, many flowered inflorescence with narrowly ovate floral bracts and carrying long-lived successive flowers.

Andaman Is., Assam, Bangladesh, Borneo, Cambodia, China South-Central, China Southeast, East Himalaya, Hainan, India, Jawa, Laos, Malaya, Marianas, Myanmar, Nansei-shoto, Nepal, Nicobar Is., Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Sumatera, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, West Himalaya.
Ecological:
Grassy places in open forests, open slopes, disturbed grasslands, forests along sandy beaches, coastal grasslands; 900-2100 m.

Blooms in the spring.

Cultivation:
Plants grow in cool to warm conditions with moderate lighting. Pot in fine bark or sphagnum moss. Water regularly during the summer, about once every two days and gradually reduce as winter approaches winter. Plants can be infrequently in the winter to keep the pseudobulbs from shriveling, but with hold watering until new shoots appear.
