English Name:
The Hairy Flickingeria (refers to the hairs at the apex of the lip).
Description:
With erect becoming semi-pendulous with age, 3 to 4 noded pseudobulbs with the new growth arising from the base of the uppermost internode, and carrying a single, apical, ovate, leathery leaf that blooms in the spring, summer and fall on short, single flowered inflorescence arising from the bracts at the junction of the leaf and pseudobulb and carry short-lived flowers.
Distribution:
Borneo, Philippines, Sulawesi.
Ecological:
In low stature hill forests at elevations around 500 to 900 m as a small to giant sized, warm growing epiphyte or occasional lithophyte.
Flowering times:
Blooms in the spring.
Flower size:
2.0 cm.
Cultivation:
Plant grows in warm temperatures with medium amounts of light. Keep plant moist and fertilize during growth season. During winter withold watering until new shoots appear. Grow in a well drain mix of sphagnum moss or medium fir bark. Plants can also be mounted.
