Description:
With close set, oblong-ovate pseudobulbs enveloped basally by a few sheaths and carrying 2, elliptic, acuminate, plicate, 7 nerved, gradually narrowing below into the grooved, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on a arching to 14 cm long, slender, 4 to 8 flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb with deciduous floral bracts and simultaneously opening, musk scented flowers.
Distribution:
Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam (Cao Bằng, Lang Sơn, Tam Đảo, Vĩnh Phú, Hà Nam).
Ecological:
In open evergreen forests at elevations of 1100 to 1200 m as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte or lithophyte in open areas.

Cultivation:
Coelogyne huettneriana hails from lower levels in Burma and Thailand and consequently needs warmth, as well as high humidity and moisture all year round. It is easy to grow in a well drained mix and flowers fairly easily.
Plants are usually grown in baskets. Plant grows in intermediate to warm temperatures with partial shade. Water regularly through the year. Pot in a well drain medium. Pot in a plastic or clay pot with a mix of fine fir bark, tree fern fibers, and perlite or pot in New Zealand sphagnum moss.
