Description:
Growing epiphyte or terrestrial with an elongate stem enveloped completely by imbricate, leaf-bearing sheaths carrying oblong, unequally bilobed apically, narrowing slightly towards the clasping base leaves that blooms in the spring on a 6 to 8" [15 to 22.3 cm] long, striate, rigid, bright green, 4 to 8 flowered inflorescence with ovate, obtuse, green bracts carrying fragrant, waxy flowers.

Epiphytic on tree trunks in forests or lithophytic on rocks on shrubby slopes; 1500-2300 m.

Cultivation:
Plants are best grown hanged in baskets and on mounted and require bright to full sunlight and warm temperatures. If hunged the roots must be watered frequently. Plants should be grown in media that is well drained such as tree fern fibers (for small plants), several pieces of coarse fir bark, or sphagnum moss.
